Its grim reading but this is a link to the fines and penalties imposed by Revenue for non compliance by individuals and companies.
You will notice in some cases the penalties are 3 times the amount of undeclared tax.
Items targeted include
- Failure to make a return
- Undeclared income tax/VAT/PRSI
- Not keeping proper records
- Withholding information
- making a false declaration
- and so on…
The list of defaulters has grown especially with not making returns.
Remember it is better to make the return EVEN if you cannot pay it.
You will avoid fines and penalties which are totally avoidable by filing.
Unpaid returns will be subject to interest and possible sheriff fees but these would be much less than what you could be hit with for non declarance.
